Munich Re is the internationally leading reinsurer. Outstanding expertise, know-how and financial strength have secured our business since 1880.
Munich Re employs around 43,000 people around the world. Around 11,500 in reinsurance alone. The Group generated €48.8bn in sales in 2014.
Questions the likes of "What happens if sea level rises a metre?", "how do you insure a large event like the football World Cup?" or "What will it mean for health and life insurance if the average life expectancy one day hits 90 years?" shape our daily work. We are working on topics today that will concern the whole of society tomorrow, whether they be climate change, major construction projects, gene technology or space travel.
We find solutions to these challenges through a network of highly qualified professionals who anticipate risks, work on tailor-made solutions and expertly advise our clients, the primary insurers. This enables us to anticipate future risks and offer our clients not only traditional reinsurance but also solutions for risks that hadn't been insurable in the past.
Munich Re is one of the world's leading reinsurers. We work together with over 5,000 clients in 160 countries and are represented at more than 50 locations around the world.
Current employment opportunities
We hire about 40 university graduates every year, primarily from the fields of management, mathematics, law and engineering or graduates of international courses of study. We offer them the opportunity to start immediately in a challenging job in the company, or entry through our 24-month international trainee programme. In addition to training on the job, we also emphasise the development of personal skills and increasing their knowledge of methods.
Munich Re has pooled its global healthcare know-how in insurance and reinsurance under the brand Munich Health. Around 3,000 experts at locations around the world benefit from the resulting synergy potentials as they devise innovative healthcare solutions for clients and partners all over the world.
Since 2009, Munich Health has been a separate business segment within Munich Re alongside primary insurance and reinsurance, pooling our global health expertise in primary insurance, reinsurance and risk management. Munich Health devises integrated, intelligent solutions tailored to clients' local needs, thus exploiting the business potential in each market. In this way, we achieve sustainable growth and excellence – to the benefit of all stakeholders.
From Munich, Munich Health services the needs of insurance companies in more than 40 countries, and primary insurance clients in over 100 countries.
